KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 — Public relations agency ShekhinahPR, in collaboration with football marketing and management consultancy ProEvents, has donated football gear used by Manchester United during their recent match against the Asean All-Stars at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lemoi.
PUTRAJAYA, Feb 22 — The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has expressed disappointment over the lenient disciplinary action taken by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) against its officers involved in an incident with a Vietnamese fishing boat in Kelantan waters on July 7, 2023.
The investigation began after a viral video showed an MMEA vessel moored with a Zone C fishing boat operated by a Vietnamese crew. EAIC had recommended stricter disciplinary measures, including demotion or dismissal of the commanding officer, but MMEA’s Disciplinary Authority (PBT) instead imposed a fine of seven days’ emoluments while clearing other personnel of wrongdoing.
EAIC deemed this decision too lenient given the misconduct, which included submitting false reports on the vessel’s position, heading, and speed. A police report has also been lodged over false information in a search form, prompting an investigation by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) under commercial crime.
Further findings revealed that MMEA officers engaged in unauthorized activities such as squid jigging and fishing while anchored with the Vietnamese boat, tarnishing the agency’s integrity. — Bernama
