KANGAR, June 13 — A pre-dawn fire at Kampung Seberang Alor in Kuala Perlis near here destroyed eight houses and a motorcycle early today.

Perlis Fire and Rescue Department director Senior Fire Superintendent I Wan Mohd Hamizi Wan Mohd Zin said the department received a distress call at 3.38am, and personnel from the Kuala Perlis Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the location within two minutes.

He said the blaze engulfed eight Class B houses and a motorcycle, with all of them suffering total destruction.

Firefighters from the Kangar Fire and Rescue Station, supported by volunteer fire brigades from Simpang Empat, Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis and Pauh, worked together to bring the situation under control.

The fire was successfully contained by 4.40am, while the operation concluded at 8.13am. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Wan Mohd Hamizi added that the department’s forensic unit is investigating the cause of the fire and determining the total losses incurred. — Bernama
