BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 — Malaysians have been advised to avoid non-essential travel to Algeria and Tunisia due to ongoing regional tensions and a sharp reduction in flight services to both countries.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Algiers said Malaysians planning to travel to Algeria or Tunisia should consider postponing their trips until the situation improves and travel can be carried out safely.
“This precaution is essential for your safety and well-being,” the embassy said in a statement posted on Facebook yesterday.
The embassy also urged Malaysians currently in Algeria and Tunisia who have not registered their presence with the mission to do so by emailing mwalgiers@kln.gov.my.
“This will enable us to keep you informed of any emergencies and provide assistance if needed during your stay,” it said.
Malaysians are also advised to stay alert and keep track of the latest developments in the region.
“It is important to remain cautious and prioritise your safety at all times,” the statement added.
The embassy further stressed that, in view of the ongoing conflict affecting the Middle East, travellers should review official travel advisories before making any travel arrangements.
“We strongly advise against all non-essential travel to the affected countries until the situation stabilises and conditions become safer for travel,” it said. — Bernama
