BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — A Bangladeshi man previously charged in Malaysia with child pornography offences has been extradited to the United States, where he now faces multiple charges linked to the sexual exploitation of minors.
Zobaidul Amin, 28, was transferred from Malaysia to Alaska on March 4 following cooperation between the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the US Department of Justice, and Malaysian authorities.
US Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement on March 5 that the extradition highlights continued efforts by authorities to track down suspects hiding overseas.
FBI Director Kash Patel also confirmed the arrest on X, stating that Amin had been wanted since 2022 on allegations including operating an international child exploitation network.
He added that Amin had been moved from Malaysia to Alaska to face the charges and expressed appreciation to the Malaysian government for its assistance.
Amin was indicted in Alaska in July 2022 on several counts, including conspiracy to produce, receive, and distribute child pornography, operating a child exploitation enterprise, cyberstalking, aggravated identity theft, and wire fraud. If convicted, he could face a sentence ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.
In Malaysia, Amin was charged in September 2022 with 13 offences related to the possession and production of child pornography while he was reportedly residing in the country and studying at a medical school.
Authorities said the extradition was facilitated through cooperation between the Royal Malaysia Police, the FBI, and the US Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs.
