BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 — Flood conditions in Sabah have begun to improve, with only two temporary relief centres (PPS) still open in Penampang and Papar districts.
According to a statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), a total of 90 people from 22 families were still taking shelter at the centres as of this morning.
In Papar, eight flood victims remained, while landslides in Penampang affected 82 people. “Only two villages are still impacted, one each in Papar and Penampang,” the statement said.
The Sabah JPBN also reported that landslides in the state have claimed 13 lives so far, while one fatality was recorded due to flooding.
Meanwhile, in Sarawak, JPBN said 16 people from five families were still housed at the PPS at Dewan Suarah Marudi, Miri, this morning.
Data from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage’s Public Info Banjir portal showed water levels in Marudi and surrounding areas were on a downward trend, though still above danger levels. At Long Teru station, the river level stood at 8.47 metres this morning, down from 8.69 metres yesterday evening, exceeding the danger mark of 8 metres.
Similarly, at Marudi station, the river level dropped to 3.92 metres this morning from 4.12 metres yesterday, but remained above the danger level of 3.25 metres. — Bernama
