KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — A 31-year-old food delivery rider was killed after his Honda C100 motorcycle was hit by a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid while attempting a U-turn on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman near Taman Ikhsan, Batu Berendam, yesterday evening.

Melaka Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Muhammad Zaki Ramat said the incident occurred at about 7.05pm and involved a 66-year-old local male driver, according to Harian Metro.

Initial investigations found that the rider was travelling from the Peringgit direction and was making a U-turn near the Taman Ikhsan junction when the car, which was heading from Taman Sutera Wangi towards Peringgit, struck the left side of the motorcycle.

The rider sustained severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

His body was later taken to the Forensic Department of Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination, while both vehicles involved were sent to Puspakom in Alor Gajah for technical inspection.

Authorities also noted that a no U-turn sign had been placed at the location.
