LONDON, Nov 1 — Former British Army officer Michael Webber was sentenced to six months in prison for sexually assaulting 19-year-old soldier Jaysley Beck, who later took her own life.
Beck had reported the 2021 assault, but no action was taken. An inquest later found the army’s failure to act contributed to her death.
Webber, 43, will serve three months in custody and remain on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
The army has apologised, but Beck’s mother called the statement “empty words.” — AFP
