NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
PUTRAJAYA, April 24 — Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has concluded giving his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today, as part of an ongoing investigation into a corruption and money laundering case.
The Bera MP was seen leaving the MACC headquarters at 6.11pm, after spending approximately seven hours with investigators. He had arrived at 11am.
According to sources, the statement recording session involving Malaysia’s ninth prime minister is set to continue tomorrow at 3pm.
This marks Ismail Sabri’s eighth appearance at the MACC to assist in the investigation, which is believed to be linked to the use and procurement of funds for promotional and publicity campaigns under the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) initiative during his administration from August 2021 to November 2022.
The case is being investigated under the MACC Act 2009, as well as the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
On March 3, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that Ismail Sabri is a suspect in the case, following the seizure of approximately RM170 million in various currencies and 16 kilogrammes of gold bars during a raid on a designated safe house.
Additionally, 13 bank accounts were reportedly frozen as part of the investigation.
As he left the MACC headquarters, Ismail Sabri waved to members of the media but did not make any statements. — Bernama
