LONDON, March 5 — Betway has been named Formula One’s first official betting operator under a multi-year agreement announced today, ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

The Malta-based online betting brand is part of Super Group, which also owns the online casino Spin. Liberty Media-owned Formula One said the deal covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa, as well as Canada and Mexico, marking a first for the F1 betting market.

“Sports betting has become a natural way for many modern fans to engage with live events,” Formula One’s director of commercial partnerships Jonny Haworth said. “With our extensive and complex data sets, this innovative partnership with Betway brings adult fans closer to the strategy and action that make the sport so exciting.”

The partnership will leverage ALT Sports Data, F1’s official betting data supplier, to provide real-time predictive analytics from Formula One’s data banks, along with proprietary data and pricing for betting odds.

Fans will be able to place in-play bets on driver and team strategies, including safety car deployments and pitstops.
