Four Arrested for Assaulting DBKL Officers, Remanded for Investigation
KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 — Four individuals, including a woman, have been remanded for two to three days after allegedly assaulting Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) enforcement officers during operations at two different locations yesterday.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman stated that the suspects, aged 15 to 39, were arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants from carrying out their duties. Additionally, they are being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for causing injury.
According to Sulizmie Affendy, the first incident took place at 11:30 am at Lorong Benteng when a female suspect was asked to move her food truck, which was blocking traffic. A dispute ensued, during which an enforcement officer was bitten by the suspect. She was immediately arrested and is now remanded for two days until tomorrow.
The second altercation occurred at 10:08 pm in Masjid India, where DBKL officers encountered resistance while handling unauthorized traders. During the commotion, a DBKL officer was forcefully shoved, prompting the police to detain three local men, aged 15 to 39, for further investigation.
One of the detained individuals has a prior drug-related offense, and all three will remain in custody until this Saturday (March 8).
DBKL later confirmed in a statement that two of its enforcement officers sustained injuries while overseeing unlicensed traders at the Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars. — Bernama
