JASIN, June 29 — Police have arrested four men suspected of being involved in a gang robbery involving the theft of durians and a motorcycle from an orchard near Anjung Gapam in Bemban on Saturday, causing losses estimated at about RM9,000.

Jasin district police chief Supt Lee Robert said the suspects, aged between 27 and 35, were picked up in four separate raids conducted in Jasin, Central Melaka and Masjid Tanah between 12.30am and 7.30am on Sunday.

He said interrogation revealed that two of the suspects admitted involvement in the incident, with one of them confessing to brandishing a knife to intimidate the victim after realising the victim was taking photos of the vehicle used by the group.

“Another suspect admitted to being involved in taking the stolen motorcycle meter, but denied stealing the durians or threatening the victim with a weapon,” he said in a statement last night.

Lee added that another suspect denied involvement but was arrested after being positively identified by the complainant as the person who stole a motorcycle belonging to the complainant’s father.

Police also seized three mobile phones, a Perodua Myvi, a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle, and a folding knife believed to be linked to the case, he said. — Bernama
