TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed optimism over the future of Malaysia’s e-sports industry after witnessing the national team clinch the championship title at the IESF Mobile Legends: Bang Bang 2025 World Championship here last night.
He said Malaysia’s role as host to world-class e-sports tournaments, coupled with the national team’s consistent international successes, has strengthened the country’s standing as a growing regional e-sports hub.
Ahmad Zahid added that continued support through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes would further reinforce the industry’s development. He noted that institutions such as GiatMARA and the MARA Skills Institute (IKM) offer specialised training in e-sports-related fields, while Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) provides courses in e-sports content development.
“The future of e-sports in Malaysia is very bright, as TVET institutions will continue to offer specialised programmes in this field. What is important is that it is not only the athletes who are involved, but that e-sports should also be developed as a full-fledged industry, particularly in content creation related to e-sports,” he said after watching the final match between Malaysia and Cambodia.
Also present was Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim.
Ahmad Zahid congratulated the Malaysian team on their 3-0 victory over Cambodia. The squad comprised Hazziq ‘Stormie’ Rizwan, Idreen ‘Momo’ Jamal, Muhammad ‘Yums’ Suhairi, Muhammad ‘Sekysss’ Zaman and Ealton ‘Loleal’ Rayner. — Bernama
