WASHINGTON, May 21 — US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said yesterday that he expects Russia to present a ceasefire proposal for Ukraine within days — a move that could reveal Moscow’s true intentions — as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the Kremlin of stalling for time.
IPOH, May 16 — Post-mortem examinations on the nine Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) personnel who lost their lives in Tuesday's crash in Teluk Intan have confirmed that all victims died from multiple severe injuries sustained in the collision.
According to Sinar Harian, Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the autopsies, conducted at Teluk Intan Hospital, revealed that the injuries were caused directly by the impact of the crash.
“The hospital determined that the cause of death was multiple injuries resulting from a road traffic collision,” he told the Malay daily.
Noor Hisam stated that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with a multi-agency approach adopted to determine the precise cause of the accident.
This includes collaboration with the Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre (Puspakom), the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), particularly for technical input in the investigation.
“PDRM will also form a special investigation committee or Court of Enquiry,” he said, noting that this is part of the standard operating procedure whenever an incident involves fatalities or government assets.
He added that statements will be taken from all individuals present at the scene, including FRU personnel who survived the crash.
The accident occurred at around 8.50am on Tuesday along Jalan Chikus–Sungai Lampam in Teluk Intan, when an FRU truck collided with a lorry carrying stones as the team was returning to their base in Sungai Senam.
Nine FRU members were killed, while nine others sustained various injuries and were admitted to hospital.
