BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
WUHAN, China, Oct 11 — French Open champion Coco Gauff powered past Italy’s Jasmine Paolini 6-4, 6-3 today to advance to the Wuhan Open final — her third WTA 1000 final of the season.
The American third seed claimed the first set after both players traded service holds in the opening five games before exchanging five consecutive breaks.
The second set unfolded in similar fashion, with Paolini breaking for a 3-2 lead before Gauff immediately responded — marking the 11th straight game without a service hold. Gauff then held serve for 4-3, broke again, and served out the match to secure her place in the final, where she will face either world number one Aryna Sabalenka or fellow American Jessica Pegula tomorrow.
“I’m really happy with how I played today. It was tough, especially with the serving, but I did what I needed to do to get the win,” Gauff said.
“Sabalenka and Pegula are both great players — I’ve lost to them before — but I’ll focus on my own game and control what I can,” she added. — Reuters
