KUALA LUMPUR, March 14 — A four-metre-long, 10kg king cobra caused panic in a Pekan Pulai, Baling home before being safely captured by the Baling Civil Defence Force (APM).

The snake was first spotted behind the house before slithering into a narrow storage rack inside. Lt. Mohd Faizol Abd Aziz said the team took 25 minutes to safely extract the aggressive reptile from the tight space between storage shelves.

Despite limited equipment due to a recent fire at the Baling APM office, officers successfully secured the snake without incident. The cobra was later released into a safe area away from human settlements.

The king cobra’s venom is highly potent, with a single bite delivering up to 7ml, enough to kill 20 people or an elephant.
