PUTRAJAYA, Dec 28 — The government has agreed to continue the Malaysia Short-Term Employment Programme (MySTEP) into next year, offering short-term job placements and public sector work experience.

The extension was announced in a circular dated December 24, 2025, signed by Public Service (Development) deputy director-general Datuk Dr Mohd Bakhari Ismail and shared on the Public Service Department’s official Facebook page.

According to the circular, MySTEP is aimed at graduates and job seekers — including persons with disabilities and senior citizens — to provide them with short-term work exposure in the public sector.

“The hiring of MySTEP personnel must follow the rules and procedures outlined in the MySTEP Personnel Services Procurement Guidelines, which will take effect on January 1, 2026,” it said.

Once the guideline is implemented, existing Human Resources Service Circulars (MyPPSM) on the hiring of daily-paid workers and the delegation of authority for approving overtime and payments for work on rest days and public holidays will be suspended.
