BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 — The Sessions Court today allowed former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s application to delete parts of several sentences in the witness statement of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer in his undersea tunnel corruption trial.
Judge Azura Alwi said the affected sentences appeared in eight of 23 paragraphs in MACC Senior Superintendent Zulhilmi Ramli’s statement.
“The court, after reviewing submissions from both parties, finds that only certain sentences should be removed,” she said.
Lim, 64, is charged with abusing his position to receive a RM3.3 million bribe and soliciting a 10 per cent cut from the profits of the RM6.34 billion Penang undersea tunnel project, as well as disposing of two state-owned land lots worth RM208.8 million. — Bernama
