WASHINGTON, June 12 — The White House stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will not tolerate “mob rule,” as demonstrations against his immigration policies continue to spread across the U.S., despite a military-backed crackdown in Los Angeles.
KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — National head coach Peter Cklamovski believes Malaysia’s 1-1 draw with Cape Verde in a Tier 1 international friendly is a strong indication of Harimau Malaya’s continued progress.
The 46-year-old Australian said the team’s performance against the world’s 72nd-ranked side reflects the dedication and hard work the squad has been putting in.
“It’s a clear sign of our focus and growth as a team. Last night’s match was a result of how we train every day, the mentality we bring to the pitch, and the standards we uphold on and off the field.
“We aim for the highest level each day, with a mindset to improve constantly — and tonight’s performance was a product of that,” he said at the post-match press conference.
Cape Verde opened the scoring in the eighth minute through Sidny Lopes Cabral, but Malaysia responded in the 79th minute with an equaliser from substitute striker Paulo Josue, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Cape Verde head coach Pedro Leitao Brito expressed satisfaction with the result, noting that his side featured 12 debutants.
“We’re happy with the game — it was a good challenge for both teams. Despite both sides having chances to score, this result is acceptable for us, especially with 12 new players making their first international appearance,” he said.
Malaysia will take on Cape Verde again in a behind-closed-doors friendly at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on June 3.
The two matches serve as preparation for Malaysia’s crucial 2027 Asian Cup Qualifier against Vietnam on June 10 at the same venue.
