NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 — The Health Ministry (MoH) is offering 57,093 free influenza vaccination appointment slots for senior citizens with comorbidities under its Influenza Immunisation Programme for Senior Citizens.
The programme, which runs until the end of August, is being carried out at 649 selected health clinics across the country.
In a statement yesterday, the MoH said that as of April 20, 59.47 per cent of high-risk seniors had received their influenza vaccinations, based on the number of doses distributed to government healthcare facilities nationwide.
"Eligible seniors are encouraged to book their appointments early before all slots are filled. The vaccination is completely free and includes the cost of the vaccine, medical equipment, and associated services,” the statement said.
Appointments can be made through the MySejahtera app. Alternatively, the public may contact their nearest District Health Office, check the official MoH website and social media platforms, or walk into any participating clinic for further details.
The ministry also noted that those without access to MySejahtera can register and receive the vaccine directly at participating clinics, depending on slot availability.
Elderly patients visiting clinics for chronic disease follow-ups are also encouraged to ask about their eligibility if the vaccine has not already been offered to them.
“The MoH urges all senior citizens with at least one chronic illness—such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory conditions, or hypertension—to take advantage of this opportunity for protection ahead of the flu season,” the ministry added.
The initiative, launched on February 18, aims to reduce serious complications and hospital admissions due to influenza among high-risk groups.
For more information, the public is advised to visit the official MoH website or contact any participating health clinic. — Bernama
