KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7 — A policeman suffered facial injuries while trying to stop a clash between two groups at Sungai Buloh Hospital’s emergency ward early yesterday.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said a report was received at 2.10am, and a patrol team was immediately sent to the scene. Personnel from the hospital’s police post had already responded to manage the situation before the patrol team arrived.

“Upon reaching the location, the patrol team found that a policeman had been attacked by a local man in his 40s. Initial findings indicate he was trying to break up a fight involving several men and women when the suspect turned violent and struck him, causing facial injuries,” he said in a statement.

He added that efforts to arrest the suspect initially met resistance, leading to a brief struggle, but with the help of the public, the man was subdued and later taken to the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters. The suspect has been remanded for four days until Tuesday (Sept 9).

The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant, Section 353 for using criminal force against a public servant, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955. — Bernama
