KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 — A 65-year-old businessman was arrested for allegedly killing his wife at their home in Bandar Sungai Long early Thursday morning.

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the couple’s 35-year-old son alerted authorities after his father attempted suicide by slitting his wrist following the alleged murder.

Police and forensic teams arrived at the scene to find the 63-year-old woman lying in the bedroom, covered in blood. The knife used in the incident was seized, along with other evidence. Initial investigations suggest the suspect was under severe financial stress due to his struggling business and his wife's illness, though the exact nature of her condition is pending a full medical report.

A postmortem at Serdang Hospital confirmed suffocation as the cause of death. The suspect has been remanded until Feb 27, with the case being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Police urge anyone with information to contact the nearest station or ASP R. K. Umesh at 012-6114900. They also encourage individuals facing stress or marital issues to seek support through Talian Kasih 15999 or certified counselors. — Bernama
