KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has instructed all state police chiefs and department directors to step up patrols and tighten security at border areas and key locations nationwide following the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the enhanced security measures include protecting interests and assets linked to the United States and Europe in Malaysia, as well as places of worship that could potentially become targets for certain groups.

“We regularly hold meetings through the National Security Council (MKN) to monitor and assess these developments,” he said at a press conference at Bukit Aman today.
