KOTA TINGGI, Dec 31 — An Indonesian worker died after being buried under three metres of earth in a landslide while installing a septic tank in Bandar Penawar yesterday.

Senior operations commander and assistant fire superintendent Mohd Khairul Sufian Dahari said the 52-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the site, located in front of a factory under construction.

A nine-member team was deployed in a Fire Rescue Tender following an emergency call received at 1pm.

“Two plumbing workers were buried, but a 32-year-old local man managed to escape. The other victim was trapped beneath roughly three metres of soil.

“Our team excavated the area and retrieved the victim using rope systems,” he said in a statement.

He added that the victim’s body was recovered at 4pm, with the operation concluding at 4.25pm. — Bernama
