JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 15 — The Johor government has declared tomorrow a special public holiday to celebrate Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) victory in the 2025 FA Cup after the team thrashed Sabah FC 5-0 in last night’s final.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the holiday was declared in accordance with the decree of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, to honour JDT’s continued dominance in Malaysian football.

He stressed, however, that the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations scheduled for that day would proceed as planned to avoid disrupting candidates’ preparations and the duties of examination personnel.

“JDT’s success in the 2025 FA Cup once again reflects the team’s excellence and consistency as the country’s football powerhouse. This achievement is the result of the strong commitment shown by the players, coaching staff and management in upholding the highest standards,” he said.

Onn Hafiz also expressed the state government’s deepest appreciation to Tunku Mahkota Ismail for his leadership, dedication and continuous efforts in elevating Johor football, which have enabled JDT to excel at both domestic and international levels.

He added that appreciation was likewise extended to Bangsa Johor for their unwavering support, expressing hope that the victory would further motivate the team to maintain its outstanding performances and bring greater honour to Johor on the global stage.
