KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — Police are seeking more eyewitnesses to assist in the investigation of a crash involving a married couple riding a high-powered motorcycle, which was struck by a four-wheel drive vehicle near the Duta Toll Plaza heading towards the city last Saturday.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the case remains under investigation, with the suspect’s remand extended for another day starting today.

“The investigation papers will be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor tomorrow. If a directive to charge is given, the suspect will be brought to court the same day,” he said when contacted.

According to earlier reports, the 2.30pm crash resulted in the 53-year-old male rider suffering a fractured collarbone and ankle injuries, while his 49-year-old wife sustained serious injuries, including a broken ankle, fractured ribs, and brain bleeding. Both are currently receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital.

Initial investigations suggest that the incident occurred when the suspect attempted to overtake another motorcycle but failed to avoid the couple’s bike, colliding into its right side.

The 32-year-old suspect lodged a police report at 6.55pm the same day and was subsequently remanded for two days.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

Police urge anyone with relevant information to contact Insp Muhammad Farhad Kamaruddin at 011-31903054 or report to the nearest police station. — Bernama
