KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — Two foreign nationals have become the first individuals in Malaysia to be charged in court for littering under the newly enforced anti-littering law, according to a report by The Star.
KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will operate 26 additional train services from March 17 to 29 in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri to cater to strong demand from passengers heading back to their hometowns.
The rail operator said the extra services comprise 18 Electric Train Service (ETS) trips and eight EMUPlus trips, following the near sell-out of tickets during the festive period. Ten of the additional ETS trips went on sale at noon yesterday, while details of the remaining 16 trips will be announced soon.
During the operational period, the added ETS and EMUPlus services will provide 8,118 seats daily, including business class options, contributing a total of 105,534 extra seats to meet the seasonal travel surge.
Overall, KTMB will offer 285,714 seats throughout the Aidilfitri period, covering 70 trips per day with an average of 21,978 seats daily, the company said in a statement.
The additional ETS services include eight trips on the JB Sentral–KL Sentral–JB Sentral route, six on the Ipoh–KL Sentral–Ipoh route, and two trips each for the Butterworth–KL Sentral–Butterworth and Padang Besar–KL Sentral–Padang Besar routes.
For EMUPlus, eight trips will operate on the Ipoh–KL Sentral–Ipoh route over the same period.
KTMB will also introduce the East Coast edition of the Aidilfitri Express Service (ELA), operating on March 18 for the KL Sentral–Tumpat route and March 22 for the Tumpat–KL Sentral route. A total of 792 tickets will be available, including sleeper coaches, with fares ranging from RM80 to RM95.
Meanwhile, the Northern edition of the ELA will run on the KL Sentral–Padang Besar route on March 17 and 22, and the Padang Besar–KL Sentral route on March 18 and 23, offering 1,200 tickets at a one-way fare of RM70.
