BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — Police have seized 18 luxury vehicles — including a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Porsche Taycan 4S and Mercedes-Benz AMG — in a major drug bust across the Klang Valley.
According to MalaysiaGazette, 19 individuals were arrested during the Op Empis raids, with total confiscations — comprising drugs, cash and high-value assets — estimated at RM14.15 million.
The Royal Malaysia Police’s (PDRM) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) said those detained include 12 local men, five local women and two Chinese nationals, aged between 24 and 48.
NCID director CP Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said multiple locations were raided, including apartments in Taman Wahyu and Kepong, where drugs worth about RM3.1 million were discovered. The haul included 31.8kg of ketamine, 4.2kg of Erimin 5, 0.89kg of ecstasy pills and 6.5kg of MDMA.
He added that the syndicate operated under the cover of a money-changing business to mask its drug distribution activities.
Investigations revealed the group had been active since early this year, using rented apartment units as storage and processing hubs before distributing drugs throughout the Klang Valley. The 12th suspect is believed to be the mastermind, with others serving as storekeepers, runners and accomplices.
Drug screening showed three suspects tested positive, while five have previous criminal records.
Four suspects have been remanded for seven days under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. Another seven are being detained under the Dangerous Drugs (Special Preventive Measures) Act 1985, while eight have been released on police bail.
Authorities also seized jewellery, gold bars, luxury watches, handbags and laptops valued at RM11.05 million, along with approximately RM4.9 million in cash in various currencies.
Hussein said the drugs confiscated could potentially affect up to 151,000 users, stressing that police will take firm action against those involved in drug trafficking.
