ALOR SETAR, Sept 15 — Around 100,000 visitors are expected to travel to Langkawi Island via passenger ferry services during the Malaysia Day holiday and the school break.

Konsortium Ferry Line Ventures Sdn Bhd operations manager Lt Commander (Rtd) Norhafiz Abdul Wahid said the figure covers both domestic and international travellers using the Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis routes.

“A total of 118 additional ferry trips have been added to the ticketing system. We anticipate the number of visitors could surpass 100,000 if more night trips are scheduled.

“Ferry services will operate from 7am to 7pm, and may be extended until 10pm if online ticket demand is high. This is to accommodate holidaymakers heading to Langkawi,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He assured that ferry operations will run at full capacity throughout the holiday and school break.

“Travellers can purchase tickets online through the Cuti-Cuti Langkawi app or at www.cuticutilangkawi.com, or buy them directly at the Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis terminals,” he added. — Bernama
