BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
MIAMI, March 22 — LeBron James set a new NBA record for the most regular-season games played yesterday, making his 1,612th appearance in the Los Angeles Lakers' dramatic 105-104 win over the Orlando Magic.
The 41-year-old surpassed the previous record of 1,611 games held by Robert Parish since 1997. James had tied the mark just days earlier with a triple-double performance against the Miami Heat.
The milestone game nearly ended in defeat as Orlando led 104-102 with only three seconds remaining. however, a last-second three-pointer from Luke Kennard with 0.6 seconds left secured the Lakers' ninth straight victory, bringing their record to 46-25 and solidifying their hold on third place in the Western Conference.
James recorded 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the historic outing. Luka Doncic led the team with 33 points but faces a suspension for Monday’s game against the Detroit Pistons after receiving his 16th technical foul of the season. Lakers coach JJ Redick stated the club would attempt to have the foul rescinded. Austin Reaves also contributed 26 points to the win.
Now in his 23rd season, James holds numerous records, including total points scored and a 1,297-game streak of scoring at least 10 points. Reflecting on the achievement, James noted his preparation remained unchanged, emphasizing that his greatest career goal has been staying available for his teammates over more than two decades.
Including postseason appearances, James has played 1,904 total games, placing him well ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1,797) and Parish (1,795). — AFP
