WASHINGTON, June 12 — The White House stated on Tuesday that President Donald Trump will not tolerate “mob rule,” as demonstrations against his immigration policies continue to spread across the U.S., despite a military-backed crackdown in Los Angeles.
KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested 16 individuals, including a medical practitioner with the title ‘Datuk Seri’, for allegedly bribing officials to register non-citizen births as Malaysian citizens using fake documents.
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said the arrests were made under Op Outlander and Op Birth, targeting clinics and law firms in the Klang Valley and Johor. A civil servant is suspected of facilitating late birth registrations, while the ‘Datuk Seri’ doctor allegedly issued fake birth certificates.
Three agents reportedly paid bribes of RM18,000 per case, using forged hospital birth confirmation letters. Six individuals who sought these services and a lawyer acting as a middleman were also detained.
The suspects, aged 20 to 70, were arrested yesterday and taken to MACC headquarters for questioning. Two, including the ‘Datuk Seri’, were released on bail due to health reasons.
The case, investigated under Sections 17(a) and 17(b) of the MACC Act 2009, follows a year-long probe with the National Registration Department (JPN). MACC emphasized its commitment to fighting corruption in public services to safeguard national security.
