ISKANDAR PUTERI, Oct 17 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is developing an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered procurement system aimed at strengthening transparency and integrity in government operations, with a pilot project set to take place in Johor soon.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Johor’s rapid economic development makes it vital for the state to focus on integrity, as its growth could also increase the risk of large-scale corruption.
“MACC stands ready to assist the state government in enhancing governance and ensuring integrity in every policy implementation,” he said in a statement issued by the commission.
He made the remarks during the MACC Engagement Session with Johor assemblymen at the Meeting Hall, Bangunan Dato’ Jaafar Muhammad, Kota Iskandar, yesterday.
In the same statement, MACC said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi reaffirmed the state government’s full commitment to working closely with the commission to strengthen integrity and boost investor confidence.
“The Johor government, along with state executive council members and assemblymen, will give full support to MACC to ensure Johor continues to uphold good governance, transparency, and integrity.
“The presence of MACC in Johor offers a valuable opportunity to enhance the state’s administrative system, particularly in terms of integrity and efficiency,” Onn Hafiz said.
He also voiced the state’s support for MACC’s Keep Malaysia Clean (KMC) campaign, noting that it aligns with the aspirations of Johor and the Malaysia MADANI vision.
“If MACC promotes Keep Malaysia Clean, Johor can embrace the same spirit with Keep Johor Clean (KJC) — reflecting our commitment to develop the state with integrity and strong governance,” he added. — Bernama
