KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 4.06am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the tremor occurred at a depth of 18km, about 67km west of Nias, Indonesia.

It added that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia. — Bernama
