KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Malaysia’s national men’s football team has broken into the world’s top 120, climbing to 118th place in the latest FIFA rankings.

According to the update released today, Harimau Malaya amassed 1,161.53 points, rising five places from 123rd last month. The improvement follows two impressive victories over Laos in the recent 2027 Asian Cup Qualifiers under head coach Peter Cklamovski.

Within Southeast Asia, Malaysia now ranks third, behind Thailand (96) and Vietnam (111), and has overtaken Indonesia (122).

Meanwhile, Euro 2024 champions Spain continue to hold the top spot globally, followed by Argentina in second and France in third. The next FIFA ranking update will be released on November 21. — Bernama
