KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is carrying out detailed preparations, including aerial surveillance, to ensure top-tier security during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming state visit from Tuesday to Thursday.

In an official Facebook post yesterday, PDRM said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain conducted the aerial surveillance earlier in the day aboard a PDRM AW139 helicopter.

The aircraft was piloted by Air Operations Force (PGU) Commander Datuk Noor Sham Md Jani, with assistance from DSP Mohammad Firdaus Rosli.

"The surveillance, which lasted nearly an hour, focused on key strategic areas, including designated travel routes and official event venues for the visit," the post read.

PDRM said this operation is part of its effort, led by the Internal Security and Public Order Department and supported by multiple units, to ensure optimal readiness throughout the state visit.

Prior to the surveillance, Razarudin was briefed by Putrajaya district police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed at a hotel in Putrajaya, before departing from the Precinct 6 helipad.

Also in attendance were Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Khalid Saion, Bukit Aman Special Action Unit assistant commander (Operations) Supt Mohammad Khairani Khalid, and other senior officers.

Communications Minister and Madani government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil had earlier noted the visit's importance in reinforcing Malaysia-China ties, especially in trade. He described the visit as a crucial step in Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to expand its role as a trading nation. — Bernama
