SEREMBAN, March 18 — Malaysia will receive two new Electric Train Service (ETS) trains from China next month, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He added that the remaining eight train sets will be assembled locally at a Batu Gajah, Perak factory and will begin operations in stages by the end of this year.

Currently, ETS services will be extended to Segamat, as the station is ready, though Johor Bahru’s is still under construction. The two new trains arriving next month will support this expansion.

Once all new trains are operational, the ETS frequency between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur will increase, benefiting passengers, including those in Seremban, as more trains will pass through the city.

Additionally, Loke announced that the new Seremban Sentral Station, featuring modern facilities, is expected to be completed in two years, with piling work already underway. The station will integrate commercial spaces, enhancing the area’s appeal.

At a breaking fast event, Loke also witnessed the Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) handing over RM300,000 in business tithe to the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council and distributing aid to mosques, surau, and the asnaf group. — Bernama
