NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
KUALA LUMPUR, April 22 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF)-run Field Hospital (HMM) officially began operations yesterday in Myanmar’s Sagaing district, drawing a steady flow of patients from nearby communities.
In a statement, the MAF Headquarters said the deployment, part of the Humanitarian Aid Operation (Operation Starlight III), features a Level Two Field Hospital equipped with 20 beds, inpatient wards, operating theatres, intensive care units, a radiology unit, laboratories, and two specialist services — general surgery and orthopaedics.
On its first day, the Operation Starlight III medical team successfully carried out its first surgery at 10.30am local time (noon Malaysian time).
“The HMM is capable of delivering a wide range of critical medical treatments, including surgical procedures and full patient care, with the capacity to perform two surgeries at once,” the statement added.
The facility also offers outpatient services and is expected to treat between 80 and 100 outpatients daily from the surrounding area.
Sagaing Region Chief Minister Myint Naing and Yangon Region Special Operations Bureau Commander Lt-Gen Thet Pon were present at the field hospital’s opening ceremony.
The MAF medical team was deployed to Myanmar on April 18 to support Operation Starlight III in the aftermath of the devastating March 28 earthquake. — Bernama
