KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — The Malaysian Embassy in Amman has met with the country’s legal team in the Jordanian capital to ensure that Malaysians detained for taking part in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) mission receive fair and transparent legal representation.

According to a consular notice shared on the embassy’s Facebook page on Friday, the embassy is closely monitoring the situation of Malaysians involved in the GSF mission, particularly those held by Israeli authorities.

“The Embassy has also engaged with ASEAN partner countries in Amman and Tel Aviv to obtain the latest updates on the detained Malaysians and to provide appropriate consular assistance,” it said.

The Foreign Ministry earlier confirmed that all 23 Malaysians who joined the humanitarian flotilla to Gaza have been detained by Israel and will be deported through a third country.

The GSF mission, comprising more than 500 activists from 44 nations including Malaysia, set sail towards Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid, break Israel’s blockade, and show solidarity with Palestinians affected by ongoing attacks by the Zionist regime.

For assistance, Malaysians may contact embassy officers Muhd Irfan Zulkurnain at +962793811135 and Nur Najihah Md Abas at +962790800865, or email amm.uhep@kln.gov.my. — Bernama
