KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, advanced to the quarterfinals of the India Open 2026 after defeating Japan’s Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami in straight sets during their second-round match in New Delhi.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, advanced to the quarterfinals of the India Open 2026 after defeating Japan’s Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami in straight sets during their second-round match in New Delhi.

The second-seeded Malaysians took just 33 minutes to win 21-9, 23-21 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex. Aaron and Wooi Yik, two-time Olympic bronze medallists, will next face Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan, who secured their quarterfinal spot by beating Malaysian duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani 21-14, 17-21, 21-14.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s top women’s doubles pair, Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah, also reached the quarterfinals with a straight-sets win over France’s Margot Lambert and Camille Pognante, 21-7, 23-21. The second-seeded pair will take on Taiwan’s eighth seeds Hsieh Pei Shan and Hung En Tzu. — Bernama
