KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Malaysia’s challenge at the 2025 Egyptian Open came to an end after the nation’s sole representative, S. Sivasangari, was eliminated in the quarter-finals in Giza yesterday.

In the Professional Squash Association (PSA) Tour Diamond-level event, seventh seed Sivasangari once again fell short against fourth seed Amina Orfi, losing 6-11, 8-11, 11-4, 9-11.

The defeat was Sivasangari’s sixth in seven meetings with the Egyptian, dating back to their first clash at the Squash On Fire Open 2023 in Washington, D.C.

Amina will face fellow Egyptian Fayrouz Aboelkheir in the semi-finals later today. Fayrouz produced one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by ousting defending champion Nour El Sherbini 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5. — Bernama
