TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8 — Malaysia’s back-to-back triumph at the IESF World Esports Championship has given the national squad a significant confidence boost ahead of their gold medal campaign at the 2025 Thailand SEA Games.
National coach Michael Bocado, also known as Coach Arcadia, said the timely victory has strengthened the team’s momentum as they prepare for the SEA Games opening tomorrow.
“For sure, we’re going to do everything we can to achieve gold. We’ll use the remaining days to train really well. Overall, coming from this win, I think we have great momentum,” he told reporters last night.
Malaysia delivered a dominant 3-0 victory over Cambodia in the grand final at Quill City Mall to successfully defend their IESF world title for the second consecutive year.
The championship-winning squad featured Idreen Jamal (Momo), Muhd Qayyum Ariffin Mohd Suhairi (Yums), Muhd Haqqullah Ahmad Shahrul Zaman (Sekysss), Hazziq Danish Mohd Rizwan (Stormie) and Ealtond Rayner (Lolealz).
Michael said that while the team’s confidence is high, they remain focused and cautious in their preparations.
“The momentum is there, the confidence is there. But we’re not going to be overconfident. We will add more strategies, we will add more heroes. Definitely, we’re going to give our best,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sekysss noted that the team’s chemistry has strengthened through their consistent performances at the world stage, adding that a SEA Games gold medal would carry strong symbolic meaning for Malaysian esports.
“If we become the SEA Games champion, we’ll get the chance to make history,” he said.
The Malaysian Esports Federation (MESF) has set a target of winning two gold medals — one each in the men’s and women’s MLBB events — at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.
Malaysia has yet to win a gold medal in MLBB since the event’s debut in 2019. At the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, the men’s team won silver while the women’s team secured bronze. — Bernama
