TOKYO, Jan 22 — Japan has halted the restart of the world’s largest nuclear power plant just hours after it began, though the reactor remains “stable,” the operator said.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 — Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah is set to undergo a right knee replacement surgery today, with medical support from specialists at Malaysia’s National Heart Institute (Institut Jantung Negara, IJN).
IJN said its senior cardiologist, Dr Azmee Ghazi, is involved in providing advanced post-operative care for the 79-year-old monarch at a leading medical centre in Brunei, underscoring the institute’s reputation for delivering world-class cardiovascular services.
In a statement, IJN noted that the Sultan’s treatment reflects the institute’s standing as an international reference point, particularly in complex and high-technology cardiovascular care developed through decades of experience and compliance with global quality standards.
The institute added that Dr Azmee’s involvement highlights his leadership in advanced cardiology and heart failure management, while reinforcing IJN’s commitment to nurturing specialists recognised at the global level.
“IJN is always prepared to extend its expertise wherever it is required, guided by professionalism, precision and a strong sense of responsibility in service,” the institute said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed his well wishes to the Brunei ruler on January 14 after learning of the upcoming procedure. In a Facebook post, Anwar said he prayed for the Sultan’s good health and a successful surgery, expressing confidence in the care provided by IJN.
