NEW YORK, May 23 — The Trump administration yesterday revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll foreign students—who make up over a quarter of its student body—in a sharp escalation of the president’s conflict with the prestigious institution.
BATU KAWAN, May 1 — A man is feared to have drowned after falling from a boat while harvesting cockles near Kilometre 4.2 of the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge (Penang Second Bridge) earlier this morning.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah said the victim, identified as 28-year-old Ismail Ahmad, has not yet been located.
A team of six firefighters from the Batu Kawan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was dispatched to the scene following an emergency call received at 10.39am, and a search and rescue (SAR) operation was immediately launched.
“The incident involved a boat that collided with pole number 274 of the Second Bridge. The boat operator fell into the sea and has not resurfaced,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
At the time of the incident, the victim’s father and a friend were nearby in a separate boat and were unharmed.
Mohamad Shoki added that rescue teams are actively searching the waters where the victim is believed to have gone overboard, using surface search techniques. The operation is being assisted by the Fishermen’s Association, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and the Water Rescue Team (PPDA). — Bernama
