BANGKOK, April 24 — Thailand’s Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a petition accusing 44 current and former opposition lawmakers of ethics violations over their 2021 move to amend a law protecting the monarchy from criticism, according to Thai media reports.
MUSCAT, March 2 — Badr Albusaidi, the foreign minister of Oman who recently facilitated talks between Iran and the United States, said the “door to diplomacy remains open” despite the latest escalation in the region.
The US and Israel carried out large-scale military strikes against Iran, reportedly resulting in the death of Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has since retaliated with waves of missiles and drones aimed at Israel and sites across the Gulf.
“I want to be very clear — the door to diplomacy remains open,” Albusaidi said in a post on X.
He noted that recent discussions in Geneva had made meaningful progress toward a potential agreement between Iran and the United States. While the aim had been to prevent conflict, he stressed that the outbreak of war should not eliminate the prospect of peace, adding that diplomacy remains the best path to resolving the crisis.
Earlier, Albusaidi also called for a ceasefire during a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi. — AFP
