KOTA KINABALU, Sept 15 — A total of 415 flood victims from 113 families are currently housed at two temporary relief centres and one permanent centre in Sabah as of 8am today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), 155 people from 51 families remain at the Selagon permanent relief centre in Beaufort, which has been operating since Sept 9.

“The other two centres are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) St Paul in Kolopis, Penampang, sheltering 59 people from 19 families, and Dewan Huguan Siou, which is housing 142 people from 32 families,” the statement said.

JPBN noted that evacuee numbers at SK St Paul continue to rise due to persistent rain overnight, while figures at Dewan Huguan Siou are gradually declining.

“So far, 22 villages have been affected by the floods — 14 in Penampang and eight in Beaufort,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds for several districts, including Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Keningau, and Tambunan in the interior, as well as west coast areas such as Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud. — Bernama
