TAWAU, Dec 14 — A fire destroyed 30 semi-detached houses at Lorong Jade 4, Kampung Sri Aman, Jalan Apas here late last night.

Tawau Fire and Rescue Station chief Jemishin Ujin said the department received an emergency call at 11.23pm and dispatched 17 personnel, who arrived at the scene about 10 minutes later. Firefighters deployed transport pumps, water relay systems, a Fire Rescue Tender and a water tanker to ensure a steady water supply.

The operation was assisted by teams from the Kunak Fire and Rescue Station and the Kampung Titingan Community Fire Brigade, using water from hydrants and open sea sources. No casualties were reported, and firefighters managed to prevent the blaze from spreading, saving about 300 houses.

The operation concluded at 3.10am, while the cause of the fire and the extent of losses remain under investigation. — Bernama
