MUAR, Feb 27 — Johor is among the top states in early registrations for six-year-olds entering Year One for the 2027 school session under the Malaysia Education Blueprint (RPM) 2026-2035.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said nearly 50,000 applications have been received nationwide within the first two weeks, with Johor contributing significantly to the numbers. She described the early uptake as a positive sign of parental confidence in the education system.

The registration period runs until March 31, but the ministry will continue accepting applications afterward. Up to 700,000 registrations are projected, and preparations are underway for infrastructure and teacher recruitment.

Fadhlina highlighted that Year One registration is part of the RPM’s broader goal to enhance education quality and pupil development. The ministry is also promoting the Tekad Reformasi Pendidikan Programme (Tekad) to engage teachers, parents, and communities on RPM targets.

She added that the outreach will continue beyond registration to strengthen support for policy implementation. The ongoing Jaulah Ramadan 2026 Programme combines education, welfare, and spiritual activities to foster community engagement and promote understanding of the RPM roadmap. — Bernama
