MOE: Malaysia’s school year to resume in January starting 2026, full academic calendar released online

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 28 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that the 2026 Academic Calendar for National and Government-Aided Schools will run from January 11 to December 31, 2026, for Group A states, and from January 12 to December 31, 2026, for Group B states.

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 28 — The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that the 2026 Academic Calendar for National and Government-Aided Schools will run from January 11 to December 31, 2026, for Group A states, and from January 12 to December 31, 2026, for Group B states.

In a statement today, the ministry said the full 2026 Academic Calendar is now available for download on the MOE portal via https://www.moe.gov.my/surat-siaran-kpm-bil-3-tahun2025-kalendar-akademi.

Group A consists of schools in Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu, while Group B includes those in Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya.

“The successful return of the school session to January was achieved gradually and systematically, ensuring that the operations of educational institutions were not disrupted. This accomplishment reflects the careful planning and strong commitment of education personnel at all levels,” the ministry said.

The MOE added that the 2026 calendar also aligns school breaks with major festive celebrations, including Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Kaamatan Festival, Gawai Dayak, and Christmas.
