KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6 — The Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) Appreciation Aid programme marked its sixth day smoothly, with sales amounting to RM107.1 million and involving 1.7 million recipients as of 9.30pm yesterday.

In a statement today, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said the system’s transaction rate remained stable at 99 per cent, attributing the improvement to efforts over the past five days to enhance and expand processing capacity.

Since its launch on August 31, more than 8.3 million people have used the Sara Appreciation Aid and monthly Sara credits to purchase essential goods, with total spending nationwide hitting RM536.9 million within six days.

The one-off Sara Appreciation Aid, distributed via MyKad, benefits 22 million Malaysians with an allocation of RM2 billion. Open to all citizens aged 18 and above — regardless of B40, M40 or T20 category — the credits can be redeemed cashlessly at participating supermarkets.

MOF added that the RM100 credit will remain valid until December 31, 2025, and can be used at over 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide. — Bernama
