KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The father of the 14-year-old boy detained for allegedly killing a fellow student at a school in Bandar Utama said his heart was broken by his son’s actions.
Speaking to China Press, the 40-year-old man said he never imagined his son was capable of such violence.
Describing his son as a quiet and introverted boy, he said no words could ever make up for what had happened.
“I know whatever I say now means nothing. Nothing I do can bring their daughter back. I don’t know how to face them,” he said.
Police confirmed yesterday that a 16-year-old female student from SMK Bandar Utama 4 was fatally stabbed by a male classmate. The attack reportedly occurred in or near the girls’ toilet at the school on Tuesday morning.
Investigations revealed that the victim sustained multiple stab wounds, and police recovered two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the incident.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that a 14-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the case.
Witnesses claimed that the suspect had previously shown romantic interest in the victim, although police have not confirmed a motive.
Recalling the morning of the tragedy, the boy’s father said it had begun like any other day, as he sent his son to school without noticing any unusual behaviour.
While his son’s academic performance was weak and he was not particularly focused in class, he was generally not a troublemaker, the father said, adding that his son had never mentioned the victim before.
“My son is quiet and keeps to himself. Even if something happened at school — whether he was being bullied or not — he wouldn’t tell me.
“I know saying anything now won’t change what happened. Nothing can bring their daughter back,” he said, expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy.
