Donald Trump is set to arrive in Beijing on Wednesday, marking the first visit by a US president to China in nearly a decade, as he seeks to advance trade discussions despite potential tensions over Taiwan and Iran.
SEREMBAN, May 13 — Ulu Bendul Forest Eco Park has been temporarily closed to all activities until May 24 following reports of suspected Leptospirosis, commonly known as rat urine disease, in the area.
Negeri Sembilan Forestry Department director Mohd Yussainy Md Yusop said the closure is intended to facilitate sanitation works, comprehensive cleaning and water quality monitoring to ensure the safety of visitors.
He said the department received a report from the Kuala Pilah District Health Office on Monday regarding two suspected leptospirosis cases linked to the recreational site.
“In view of this, the public is prohibited from entering the area throughout the closure period. Those who fail to comply may face action under existing regulations. Public safety and health remain our top priority,” he told Bernama yesterday.
Mohd Yussainy also advised individuals and organisations with prior bookings for chalets or campsites at the eco park to exercise caution and stay away from river areas.
He added that all water-based activities at the eco park are suspended during the closure.
“Other water recreation sites remain open as usual. Visitors are urged to maintain cleanliness and avoid discarding food waste to prevent similar incidents at other recreational areas. Let us work together to preserve a clean environment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan State Health Department deputy director (Public Health) Dr Suriyati Abd Aziz said investigations are ongoing and further updates will be announced in due course.
Earlier, claims circulated on social media alleging that several visitors experienced vomiting and diarrhoea after bathing at the recreational park. — Bernama
